Driving distances: By car, Boothbay Harbor is about 1 hour and 15 minutes from downtown Portland or from the Portland Jetport, 3 hours from Boston or Boston Logan Airport and 6-7 hours from New York City. Click here for driving directions from the Portland Jetport (PWM), the nearest commercial airport to Boothbay Harbor.
Directions: When arriving in Boothbay Harbor, you will arrive at a set of lights with Hannaford’s supermarket on the right. Go straight through these lights and follow Oak Street up the hill, bearing right at the First National Bank (with the large time and temperature sign). As the road starts heading downhill again, take a left on McClintock Street. Follow this short street to the T at the bottom of the hill, take a left on Townsend Avenue and then an immediate right onto Granary Way (just before the yellow Mung Bean shop). Back Bay Cottage is the tan shingled building with dark green shutters just in front of you before the road curves to the right. You will see the sign out front.
Parking: To the left of the trellis, there is parking reserved for the “Portside” unit. Two cars will fit in this spot end-to-end, and for short-term parking you may also use the “Guest” spot that we share with the other units. Portside is on the ground floor of Back Bay Cottage.

There is also the option of taking a Concord Coach bus from Portland, from Logan Airport or South Station in Boston to Wiscasset (about a 25 minute drive from Back Bay Cottage) and have someone to pick you up in Wiscasset. Alternatively, it would be about $40 for a taxi ride into Boothbay (We do have some Ubers/Lyfts now or call Bobo’s Coastal Cab at 207-380-4182 or Wicked Good Taxi at 207-563-6225, be sure to reserve in advance). It is preferable to have a car for at least part of your stay in Boothbay in order to explore the region, but strictly speaking it is not necessary as you can walk to restaurants, shops and markets from Back Bay Cottage and take boat trips in the summer.
