The summer has come to Boothbay!
June 19, 2011

I had the good fortune of spending the week of June 4th in Maine and had beautiful sunshine for 8 days straight!  All of the restaurants and shops are now open for the summer and even the Cabbage Island Clambake starts up this week.

What’s new in Boothbay Harbor?

The Village Market (24 Commercial Street) is now open again, after renovations.  Everything is a bit more spread out now (and a bit more expensive), so the shop offers fewer items… I’m not too hopeful that this new business plan will succeed!  But while it does, it’s still a convenient stop for basic groceries and toiletries, beer and wine, and only a 5-minute walk from the cottage.

The Pot Buoy Pub and Grille has moved into the space 93 Townsend had occupied (hence the address, 93 Townsend St.).  I did not get a chance to try it but I’ve heard good things about the relatively inexpensive pub fare.

And finally, we have new deck furniture!  We can now seat 6 people on the deck so hope for more sunshine in the coming weeks and months….

Please let me know if you have any more Boothbay news to share!

Footbridge Brewery Opening Memorial Day!

I am beyond excited that the long-awaited Footbridge Brewery will be opening its doors Memorial Day weekend. Aptly named, the brewery is just at the downtown end of the iconic 1901 footbridge. I got a sneak peak of the space this week. It's going to be gorgeous. And...
